Ben Animalia
Meet Sandy Hill artist Ben Animalia as he brings Ottawa's biodiversity to life through live sculpting demonstrations throughout the day. Creator of the Ottawa 200 Biodiversity Tree, Ben is sculpting 200 animal species connected to Ottawa's past and present, while highlighting the importance of protecting local species at risk.
The completed Ottawa 200 Biodiversity Tree will be exhibited at the National Arts Centre from Sept 24 to Oct 23.
SCULPTING ARTIST
Arbre des Arrivées (The Tree of Arrivals) is a collaborative art installation led by artist Ricardo Rodriguez, celebrating the people and communities who have shaped Ottawa.
Throughout the day, visitors are invited to add their handprint and name to a growing tree, creating a lasting symbol of belonging, shared history, and the many journeys that have helped define our city.

Experience a behind-the-scenes look at this work in progress through a listening station featuring excerpts from the film's audio, alongside early storyboards and concept art that explore the creative process behind this heartfelt love letter to Ottawa.
The completed film will premiere at The Niche Ottawa Gallery on Oct 16.
